On Saturday, April 26, students from Language Systems International, along with their instructor, Caroline, who currently teaches the TOEFL classes, enjoyed an unforgettable cultural experience at the 30th Annual LA Times Festival of Books, held every year on the campus of the University of Southern California (USC).
The event, known as the largest literary festival in the United States, brings together acclaimed authors, publishers, book lovers, and a wide range of cultural activities for all ages and interests. It was a unique opportunity for our students to engage with the English language outside the classroom by exploring interactive booths, attending panels, and meeting writers from various genres.
One of the students shared their thoughts about the event: “I liked the festival a lot. There were many books and friendly people. I practiced my English and learned more about American culture. I also got free books!”
Attending the festival strengthened their language skills and provided moments of fun, connection, and inspiration for our international students. They even received a variety of free goodies, including books!
We’d like to thank all the students who participated and Teacher Caroline for leading this amazing activity. We’re already looking forward to next year!

The TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is a globally recognized exam that measures the English proficiency of non-native speakers. It is required by many universities in the United States, Canada, and other countries for admission to academic programs. At LSI, our classes focus on all four sections of the exam – reading, writing, listening, and speaking – helping you gain the skills and confidence to succeed!
