If you are looking for an English school in Torrance, in the South Bay, or near the Los Angeles area, Language Systems International is here to help.
Our South Bay campus offers flexible, affordable, and high-quality English programs for residents, international students, and visitors.
Torrance is located about 20 miles southwest of Downtown Los Angeles. It is one of the most diverse cities in the South Bay area, with a foreign-born community representing nearly 30% of its population.
This makes the city a welcoming place to practice English beyond the classroom. Students can use English in local shops, restaurants, community spaces, workplaces, and daily conversations.
Language Systems International is SEVP-certified, which means it is authorized by the Student and Exchange Visitor Program, under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, to enroll eligible international students and issue Form I-20.
Form I-20 is required for many F-1 student visa applications and Change of Status processes.

Why small classes make a difference
One of the biggest advantages of studying at Language Systems is our small class size.
Unlike many community colleges, where classrooms can be very large, our classes are intentionally kept small.
This gives students more chances to participate, ask questions, and receive personalized instruction.
Students benefit from:
- Small classes and personalized attention
- Three teachers every day
- Morning, afternoon, evening, and 2-day schedules
- Affordable tuition
- High-quality academic programs
- Faster English development through active participation
Our ESL curriculum is organized into different proficiency levels, from complete beginners to advanced communicators.
Each day, three specialized instructors focus on three core skill areas:
- Listening and Speaking
- Reading and Vocabulary
- Grammar and Writing
This multi-teacher, multi-skill approach helps students build well-rounded English skills.
It also prepares them for everyday communication, school, work, and professional situations.
We offer levels from complete beginners, who have never studied English before, to advanced students who want to refine their communication skills.

English programs for F-1 students
Language Systems International has helped thousands of international students work toward their educational goals in the United States.
Our F-1 Student Visa programs offer a structured and supportive environment where students can improve their English while studying in California.
Whether you are just starting your English journey or want to improve your communication skills, we have a program designed for you.
To maintain valid F-1 student status, U.S. regulations require English language training students to meet full-time study requirements.
For most classroom-based English programs, this means at least 18 clock hours per week.
Our full-time Intensive English Program meets this requirement and supports student enrollment through SEVIS reporting standards.
After enrollment, qualified students receive Form I-20, the Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status.
This document is issued by Language Systems International and is required to apply for or maintain F-1 student status.
Important: Visa rules may vary depending on each student’s situation. Students should always check current requirements before making decisions.
Change of Status to F-1 student
If you are currently in the United States on another visa category, you may be eligible to apply for a Change of Status to F-1 student.
This may apply to some students in B-1/B-2 Visitor Status, J-1 Exchange Visitor Status, or other eligible nonimmigrant categories.
For example, some au pairs may explore this option after their current program, depending on their situation.
Language Systems International can issue the Form I-20 required to begin the process for eligible students.
We also work with an experienced immigration attorney who assists many students during the Change of Status process.
Our team can help you understand the general steps and prepare for what may come next.
While each case is different, the process usually includes:
- Apply and be accepted by an SEVP-certified school.
Language Systems International can enroll eligible students in SEVIS and issue Form I-20 after approval. - Pay the I-901 SEVIS fee.
After receiving Form I-20, this fee must be paid directly to SEVP before continuing. - File Form I-539 with USCIS.
Students usually submit the Application to Extend/Change Nonimmigrant Status with supporting documents.
Supporting documents may include a passport, Form I-20, Form I-94, and financial records.
Important: Processing times vary. It is advisable to begin before your current status expires.
This information is for general guidance only. It is not legal advice. Individual guidance from a qualified immigration professional is strongly recommended.
