On May 14th, students from our Downtown LA, Torrance, and Orange County campuses came together for our annual soccer tournament, one of the most anticipated student activities of the year.
The competition was intense, energetic, and full of school spirit. This year’s event felt even more special because 2026 is a FIFA World Cup year, with games happening across the United States, Canada, and Mexico — including matches in Los Angeles at SoFi Stadium, located near our Downtown LA campus.
In the weeks leading up to the tournament, students prepared with practices and training sessions organized by each campus. Teachers and staff members supported the teams as coaches, helping students build teamwork, confidence, communication skills, and friendships outside the classroom.
Beyond the matches themselves, the tournament became a major cultural exchange experience. Students created anthems, chants, and songs for their campuses, brought supporters, and connected with classmates from different countries through sports and English.
Events like this are part of what makes studying English in Los Angeles such a unique experience. Students are not only learning English in the classroom but also using it naturally in real-life situations, building international friendships, and experiencing American culture.
And yes — if you are wondering who won the tournament this year, Downtown LA Campus took home the trophy! Congratulations to Downtown LA and to every student who participated, competed, supported their teams, and made the event unforgettable.
Beyond the soccer matches, the tournament also featured exciting raffles that awarded students with Amazon gift cards, along with plenty of pizza, snacks, and drinks at the end of the event. There was also lots of Gatorade available to help everyone recharge and restore their energy after the games.
