Pink October: Take Care of Your Health, Even While Studying Abroad

From October 1st to 31st, we celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month, also called Pink Month. This is a global effort to raise awareness about breast cancer, a disease that affects millions of women worldwide. During this month, people are encouraged to learn about early detection and the signs and symptoms of breast cancer.

For our international students in the United States, it is essential to remember that, even living in another country and facing language barriers, cultural differences, and a new healthcare system, taking care of your health should never be ignored.

If you have not had your regular exams, such as a mammogram or ultrasound, look for low-cost clinics in Los Angeles, Torrance, or Orange County.

Even if you don’t have insurance, there are ways to get exams at low or no cost. You can also visit www.nationalbreastcancer.org for free or low-cost screenings in Los Angeles. Other helpful organizations include City of Hope and Providence Saint John’s.

Remember: prevention is always the best choice, and caring for yourself is essential for living healthy and safe, no matter where you are.

At Language Systems International, we care about our students’ well-being. If you need help finding resources, making appointments, or understanding the healthcare system, our Program Coordinators or Front Desk team are always here to assist you.

Don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re happy to help!
