When people think of Disney, they often think of Orlando. However, what many don’t realize is that the very first Disney park in the world was created in California—and it has a unique history that makes it truly special.
Disneyland California, located in Anaheim, Orange County, opened in 1955 and was the only Disney park personally supervised by Walt Disney. He closely followed every detail of its construction. Only after the success of Disneyland California did Disney expand to Orlando and later to other countries.
Today, Disneyland California remains one of the most iconic attractions in the United States—and it is located just minutes away from Language Systems International’s Orange County campus, making it an unforgettable experience for students doing an exchange program in California.
Disneyland Park and California Adventure: Two Parks, One Incredible Experience
The Disneyland Resort in California features two fantastic theme parks:
- Disneyland Park, with its classic attractions such as the Disney princesses, and culturally inspired areas
- Disney California Adventure, which celebrates the history, creativity, and spirit of California
Both parks offer an extraordinary experience, comparable to Disney World in Orlando, but with the unique charm of being the first Disney park ever built.
Downtown Disney: Disney Magic Without a Ticket
Another major highlight is Downtown Disney, a vibrant, open-air area that does not require a ticket to enter. It is one of the most visited spots in the region and features:
- Disney-themed shops
- A wide variety of restaurants
- Live entertainment and activities
During the holiday season, Downtown Disney becomes even more magical. With festive decorations and Christmas lights, the area turns into a truly enchanting place for visitors, students, and locals alike.
Studying Abroad in California: Learning English Through Real Experiences
For students who want to study abroad, study in the United States, or experience an exchange program in Los Angeles or California, opportunities like visiting Disneyland add incredible value to the learning experience.
Just last week, Language Systems International students participated in a group activity and visited Downtown Disney, practicing English in real-life situations while exploring American culture outside the classroom.
Our OC campus brought around 40 students to Downtown Disney for a festive seasonal outing with their program coordinator Brianna. The group enjoyed live music, falling snow, and Disney’s holiday decorations, which filled the shops and outdoor spaces with seasonal cheer.
Students spent the evening strolling through the beautifully themed areas, exploring stores, eating together, and enjoying the lively atmosphere together. The event offered a fun and relaxed way for students to socialize, experience the holiday magic, and use English in a natural setting.
