Experience American culture beyond the classroom.
At LSI, we believe that learning English goes far beyond textbooks. It’s about living the language — and immersing yourself in American culture. That’s why we encourage our international students to participate in important cultural events, like Juneteenth.
What Is Juneteenth?
Juneteenth, celebrated every year on June 19th, marks the end of slavery in the United States. On this day in 1865, the last enslaved people in Texas were finally informed of their freedom — more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
Now recognized as a U.S. federal holiday, Juneteenth is a day to honor freedom, equality, and African American history and culture.
